The Sung family ancestral home is in Qinkou, Meilin Township, Wuhua County, Meizhou, Guangdong Province. In the first year of the Qianlong reign (1736), the 21st-generation ancestor, Te-Liang Sung, crossed the sea to Taiwan and settled in Shui-Liu-Dong, Xiucaiwo, Yangmei Township. MW Bro. Hung-Te Sung is the 28th generation descendant.
He was born on 5 May 1949 in Guanghua Street, Yangmei Township. He attended Yangmei Junior High School in 1964, Chenggong Senior High School in 1967, and graduated from the Department of Textile Chemistry, Taipei Institute of Technology (now National Taipei University of Technology) in 1970. After completing his service as an officer in the Political Warfare Department of the ROC Army in 1972, he later served as General Manager of the Dyes Division at Bayer Taiwan.
In 1976, he married Ms. Mei-Ling Chung. They have one daughter, Yi-Fang, and one son, Po-Jen.
MW Bro. Hung-Te Sung was initiated in Tang Lodge No. 9, GLOC, on 9 January 1988, passed to the Fellowcraft Degree on 23 February, and raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason on 12 March the same year. He affiliated with Han Lodge in 1994 and is also a member of the Scottish Rite and the Shriners.

宋鴻德尊兄
宋氏祖居廣東省梅州使五華縣梅林鎮琴口，於乾隆元年(西元1736年) ，宋氏第21世祖德良公渡海來台，奠基於楊梅鎮水流東秀才窩，傳至尊兄為第28代。
宋鴻德尊兄出生於1949年5月5日楊梅鎮光華街，1964年楊梅中學初中部，1967年成功高中，1970年台北工專紡織科染化組畢業，1972年陸軍政戰官役畢，曾任拜耳公司染料部總經理。
1976年與鍾美齡小姐結婚，育有一女宜芳，一子柏禎。
宋鴻德尊兄1988年1月9日在唐廬第9分會入會，2月23日完成第二級，3月12日晉昇為工師美生，1994聯籍漢廬，尊兄也是慈修會與慈德會成員。

When MW Jumbo Yu stepped down as Grand Master in 1998, I was next in line to go to the Grand East. However, I was working for Bayer as General Manager of the Dyestuff Department, and could not devote myself fully to perform the duties as Grand Master due to intensive business and frequent travel. MW Tommu Weng felt for my inconvenience and resolutely assumed the Grand Master again to solve my predicament. With full appreciation, I could only make a humble donation to express my apology for the inconvenience caused to the Grand Lodge.
I have always believed that the office of Grand Master is a very noble position that requires full devotion in addition to talents and characters to perform a good job. I am by nature easygoing and unambitious. After retirement, I devoted myself solely to improving Tang Lodge and have not participated actively in business related to the Grand Lodge. However, I am deeply moved by many brethren for their enthusiasm to reform and improve our Grand Lodge of China. I, therefore, changed my original thought and decided to participate in the election of the Grand Master. Certainly, this also means that I will do my best after being elected. .
First of all, I will form a strong team with the elective and appointive grand officers to attend to the business of Grand Lodge.
Secondly, I hope that each lodge will also make every effort in strengthening themselves and become a strong support to the Grand Lodge. It is hoped that masters of each lodge will actively participate in issues related to the Grand Lodge through the Board of Directors and Supervisors, so we can gather all great minds to make the best decisions for our craft.
After all, it should be the desire of all brethren to see a well-developed Grand Lodge of China. Today, I am trying my best to move forward, and hope that the brethren will join me so that we can build a better and stronger Grand Lodge of China together!
